For businesses using Squarespace websites to sell goods or services, or looking into using some of the eCommerce functionality that Squarespace offers for its clients, one of the more important things to be aware of is how to leverage discount offerings on your website. By knowing how to set up discounts on Squarespace and the customization options the platform allows, you can customize your eCommerce experience for your clients and give them the pristine online shopping experience your business deserves.

    How to Find Discounts

Once you’ve logged in to your site, under the section for ‘Products & Services’, click ‘Discounts’. Squarespace has a bad habit of moving things around, so in case this isn’t working at some point in the future, click the magnifying glass icon to search and type in discounts, you’ll find it.

Next, click ‘Add Discount’ on the top right of your screen to enter the screen where you, you guessed it, add discounts.

In this screen, you’ll have four options for discounts to add:

    1. Percent Off

    2. Amount Off

    3. Buy X, Get Y which is only available under the Squarespace commerce plan. To learn more about Squarespace plans & pricing, click here!

    4. Free Shipping/Local Delivery, which we’ll discuss in further detail later

    Setting Up a Discount

To set up a discount on your Squarespace site, start scrolling down the list once you’ve decided the type of discount that’s best for your current goals (for this example, we’ll use the ‘Percent Off’ type of discount. Then you can:

    • Type the code for your discount

    • Decide if the discount applies to all orders, only orders over a certain purchasing amount, one single product, content & memberships, or a category of products

    • Add rules and limitations to your discount (this is also a commerce plan exclusive)

    • Limit number of total orders for the discount (first 100 orders get 25% off, etc)

    • Limit discount to one order per customer

    • Set start time and end times for your discount

Once you’ve gotten this all worked out, hit save and your discount is ready to go!

    Free Shipping & Local Delivery

This section works pretty similarly to how the discount code works, with a couple notable other fields you need to figure out:

    • If free shipping applies to all orders or just orders over a certain purchasing amount

    • What countries free shipping applies to

And then your free shipping discounts are ready to go, same as with your traditional discounts!
