A custom one-page Squarespace website for singer-songwriter, Clayton Nile Young
Sometimes the simplest websites create the strongest first impression.
For singer-songwriter Clayton Nile Young, the goal wasn't to build a large website with dozens of pages—it was to create a clean, professional online home where visitors could quickly experience his music, learn his story, and find his merch store in one place.
The result is a custom one-page Squarespace website that reflects Clayton's authentic style while making it easy for fans, venues, and industry professionals to connect with his work.
Homepage
The homepage is designed to introduce visitors to Clayton's music from the moment they arrive. Large imagery, thoughtful typography, and generous spacing allow the content to breathe while keeping the focus on Clayton's story and artistry. Rather than overwhelming visitors with endless navigation, the one-page site naturally guides them through his biography, music, photos, and ways to stay connected.
One-Page Design
Speaking of, the one-page website concept was the perfect solution for Clayton's brand. Instead of separating information across multiple pages, visitors can simply scroll through the site to discover his story, explore his music, and learn more about his work. The navigation uses anchor links to smoothly guide visitors between sections, creating a streamlined experience that feels modern and intuitive on both desktop and mobile devices.
Storytelling Through Design
Clayton describes his music as "Holler Poetry," blending alternative country, bluegrass, and folk into a sound rooted in Appalachian tradition and personal experience. The website was intentionally designed to support that storytelling rather than compete with it. Clean layouts, earthy imagery, and understated design choices allow his words, photography, and music to remain the focal point, creating an online presence that feels authentic to his artistic identity.
Store Integration
Rather than incorporating a full e-commerce system into the website itself, Clayton's online store is linked directly from the navigation. This approach keeps the primary website focused on introducing visitors to his music while making merchandise easy to access through a dedicated shopping experience. This is common for many musicians as it creates a simple, low-maintenance workflow while still giving fans a clear path to support their work (it’s also often because there’s a 3rd party managing their merch fulfillment).
Mobile Design
Many listeners discover new artists through social media, streaming platforms, or recommendations from friends—all of which often happen on a mobile device. Every section of Clayton's website was designed to look just as polished on a phone as it does on a desktop, making it easy for visitors to browse his story, find his music, and visit his online store wherever they are.
