Why it takes more than talent to be a successful musician
Chances are, if you're reading this then I bet you've been busy building your career and I know from experience it can be a never-ending roller coaster of excitement, depression, stress, confidence, fear, out-of-body elation, and topped off with a sprinkle of doubt and anxiety.
Let me guess:
You had one of “those” mornings. You worked late the night before, knocking off item after item on your ever-growing ToDo list.
It was frankly, kind of painful. Surrounded with the feeling that you’ll never get it all done.
Then came the frustration: you’re an artist, why should you have to be wasting your time with all this business nonsense?
You’ve lost sight of your original goal to the point where you’ve started to wonder if you ever had a goal to begin with.
You know what you want, you know what you like doing, and you know what you’re great at! So why does it need to be more complicated than that?!?
But getting to a place where you feel creatively fulfilled and sufficiently successful is starting to feel like it might all be an illusion.
And now, here you are… stuck… and frustrated… and confused… and overwhelmed.
Am I close?
All you want is your break.
Something to go right.
You want to have a plan and execute it without the unexpected setbacks and stress.
You want a chance to show the world what you're made of and share your message with people who get you.
Yeah, I see you.
I've been working with musicians for some time now and I've been able to pin down what separates the ones who reach their goals from the ones who are left struggling.
Think about what it would be like to make a change, to transition from being a head-spinning-creatively-blocked procrastinator into a fulfilled, successful, and prolific artist.
Now, think about being that fulfilled, successful, and prolific artist while feeling excited and energized, spending less time doing more work.
Yes, it’s possible! I promise! I’ve seen it happen!
But it doesn’t happen the way you think it might.
It's not based on your talent. I've seen some enormously talented people fail to reach their intended goals.
It's not based on your knowledge of the business. I’ve also seen some pretty savvy industry people stay stuck in one place for far too long.
It's also not based on who you know. Yes, this is a who-you-know business and knowing the right people will certainly unlock a few key doors for you, but without the secret sauce you will soon find yourself escorted out of the room.
So you want to know what it is?
The secret sauce is a combination of a healthy mindset and focused action.
I know you're thinking, “Wtf is a ‘healthy’ mindset and doesn't ‘focused’ action imply you already have a strong mindset?”
That's fair. I can see how the two together can sound redundant, but there are important differences between them, which is why it's important you have both.
Now that you know what it takes, I want to introduce you to 2 friends of mine who can shine a bright light on how to have both and make them work in your favor!
Suz + Steve have put it all together for you in their new course, Clarity x Strategy.
For the first time in the music industry, a course to help you find your own approach, to level up your career, your way.
I’ve had a sneak peek at it and it’s definitely a game-changer.
