Squarespace Landing Pages

The biggest mistake I see people making with websites, is not having a clear call-to-action. With the average person spending less than two minutes on a site, you can’t expect viewers to navigate exactly how you wish without showing them the way.

Whether you’re about to announce a new album, your next tour, or if you’re looking for a simple way to change up your website to make an impact - you’re in the right place!

Landing pages (or Cover Pages as Squarespace calls them) help you get your message across without all the clutter and distraction of a full website.

Before we go on, I want you to decide on your call-to-action. Pick one of the following (or create your own):

a. Announce new album & sell pre-orders
b. Announce tour dates & sell tickets
c. Share your music & grow email subscribers
d. Show off a new music video to grow awareness

Now that you know what you want your website visitors to do, the rest is easy!

On your Squarespace website (it’s free to create a trial account if you don’t already have one), login and go to Pages.

Click + and select Cover Page

Once you name your page, browse through the layouts to find one that best fits your CTA (call-to-action). There are templates for audio, video, or just images if you prefer.

If you picked: a. Announce new album & sell pre-orders

  • Make sure to include a photo of your album cover
  • Include release date
  • Add a button to pre-order the album
  • Add a button to Enter Site
  • Select fonts and colors to match album design

If you picked: b. Announce tour dates & sell tickets

  • A template with room for text to list tour dates would work best for you
  • Include a live show photo since you’re selling tickets (instead of a press photo)
  • Link each date directly to the venue’s ticket page
  • Add a button to Enter Site
  • Select fonts and colors to match your brand/image

If you picked c. Share your music & grow email subscribers

  • Select one of the templates with audio capabilities depending on the number of tracks you want to share
  • Include a photo of you
  • Add a button to Enter Site
  • Add a form that requires name/email and connects to MailChimp
  • Select fonts and colors to match your brand/image

If you picked d. Show off a new music video to grow awareness

  • Select a template for a full page video
  • Link to your YouTube/Vimeo video
  • Update the thumbnail so it’s not blurry
  • Add a button to Enter Site
  • Select fonts and colors to match your brand/video

When you are ready to activate your new Cover Page, go back to your Pages menu and open the page’s settings. Make sure your page is enabled, and scroll down to click Set As Homepage. Once you save - you’re good to go. Now when people go to your website - the first thing they will see is your landing page. Best of luck converting visitors to sales and subscribers!
